Special photo mention has to go to Jim Steranko, er, I mean "STERANKO". Apparently, he's dropped his first name. Anyway, he has the most amazing hair, tan, teeth and glasses I've ever seen in a bio photo. He is ageless! I don't think he's changed one bit in the last 10 years. Either that or the photo is old. I've only ever seen him in a black turtleneck and tweedy jacket, so I'm not sure. You never know, he might have a zillion of each in his closet. Either way, he looks sharp!
I was looking at an article about "Batman: Arkham City" and the unveiling of the image of Tim Drake as Robin and I'm struck by how much they made him look like a cross between convicted child killer Ian Huntley and the fresh-out-of-prison, drunk, marble-mouthed street thug from Birmingham (England) that decided to sit with my friend and I while we were on the train between Victoria Station and Birmingham. His name was Bugsy and he was plotting with his mates on how to steal as much money as possible from train passengers before they had to get off the train. I don't think he got much as he passed out in front of us fairly quickly, plus his mates ran off with the cash. Anyway, this Tim Drake looks remarkably similar to them! All he needs is an accent so thick that nobody can understand a thing he's saying and DC would have a lawsuit on their hands. LOL.
I saw a sample of the new Green Lantern animated series for Cartoon Network. Can't say I'm too pleased. I'll give it a watch if I remember to record it.
I just saw that there is going to be a Torchwood panel at SDCC on Friday 7/22, I hope I can make it (and that there isn't an actual comic book panel at that time, coz they take priority). I've confirmed it on John Barrowman's website too, so it's not a total rumor:
10.00am – ???, Torchwood Miracle Day
- John Barrowman (Captain Jack Harkness)
- Eve Myles (Gwen Cooper)
- Bill Pullman (Oswald Dane)
- Mekhi Phifer (Rex Matheson)
- Alexa Havins (Esther Drummond)
- Lauren Ambrose (Jilly Kitzinger)
- Jane Espenson (Writer, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Battlestar Galactica).
Wow, you can really tell summer is here. It's in the air! People are starting to take time off from work, so the office seems a little quieter and traffic isn't as bad since the local colleges are out of their regular sessions. This is the only time of year downtown is even remotely tolerable.
And the days are drrrrrrrragging.
More later.
