Happy Sunday!

I finally feel somewhat better. Don't get me wrong, I'm still fighting whatever it is that I have, but at least I'm not flat out in bed anymore. My doctor says I'm getting better, so fingers-crossed he's right!

I took my friend Samantha out to get a manicure and pedicure yesterday, so she took me out to The Kings Head for a late lunch / early dinner.....with beers. Now, I haven't had a cocktail since December 26th, so I wasn't used to drinking.  Plus, I almost never stand up to peer pressure and she just kept saying "another round" whenever our waitress came by.  Needless to say, I slept very well last night with a belly full of pub burger and fries and all that Boddington's sloshing around my system.  We had a really good time, even walked down the street to go watch the sun and the ocean for a bit....but we had to leave fairly quickly as I had to go to the bathroom (again, all that Boddington's in my system) for the zillionth time.

This week should be pretty uneventful. I do have a Sci-Fi type convention at the end of it, but I'm not staying the night at the hotel as I usually do. I'm gonna drive back and forth this year. The cost of the hotel has increased to the point that it is just too much to justify staying.

This convention holds a special place for me as that's where I met CBLMW (once upon a time long, long ago).  It's bittersweet. I always think about them when I go to this convention and remember when we met. I was a short-haired comic book nerd, wearing a not-so-flattering red, sparkly Flash t-shirt.  They were that years conventions presiding expert and superstar.  Confident and comfortable with the attention they got, in contrast to me, who was painfully shy, nervous and uncomfortable in those types of situations (I remember how bad I was shaking). It was so great that they talked with me after they were done with the panel.  I mean, people were lined-up to get their attention/autograph/photo!!!  They didn't do that (to the same extent) for the other MW...or PC (but then, PC was gross, arrogant and kept handling a disgusting snot filled tissue the entire panel).

What a great convention that was. I was indeed a lucky gal.

Flash-forward a few years: I've become a boring adult!! My comic book shirts are packed away in boxes in my closet waiting to be worn again, I wear glasses instead of contacts, I've grown my hair out a bit and I have no idea what's going on in the world of superheroes/science fiction.  I don't even watch much TV!!  I'm nerdy without the requisite nerd knowledge to back it up!

I'm being positive and am hopeful that the convention is gonna be great this year.  Although the convention hasn't been as much fun as it used to be and each year I say I'm not going again the next year, (yet, I always try to get tickets just in case I'm wrong and I end-up having fun). We'll see what happens this year. I'll keep repeating the mantra "it's gonna be awesome"!!!

Either way, I'll let you know.
