Awe man, I found out this week that I won’t be able to take my birthday off work this year.  My boss is out of the office for a couple of days around then, as well as some of my staff.  Hopefully it will be a quiet day and I’ll be able to leave early (with proper paperwork filed of course).  I asked if that would be okay and my boss said yes, as long as we’re not too short-handed or too busy.  Hopefully I’ll be able to bail around 1pm, if I’m lucky.  I haven’t made any plans or anything, but it would be nice to get home a little early and take it easy.  Or go to Costco and renew the membership I got last year and have never used.  I thought for sure that I would use that membership at least once over this past year.  I was wrong.

I took my very first-ever sick day on a Monday this week.  It was so weird!  I live near a school, so I could hear the school bell ring and then hear the kids at recess.  Man, kids are loud when they play!  Didn’t stop me from sleeping though.  One thing being sick earlier this year changed, I’ve become someone who sleeps!  A LOT!  What a nice change.  I slept until 8:30am on Monday and didn’t really get out of bed until 11am.  Unheard of!

I think Gotham was confused as to why I was home.  I probably messed-up his plans for daytime debauchery around the apartment.  I bet he was going to invite some ladies over for mid-day cocktails and fooling around….. and dumb me went and ruined it.  So instead he just laid around, slept and stayed closed to me all day.  Poor thing.  Ha!

My costume project is coming along really well.  Only a couple of items left to get.  I can’t believe it’s been over a year in the making.  Sam, Deanne and Manny have been great help with this as sounding boards and resources to finding off the wall shops and wholesalers.  I’ve been to places in East Downtown LA that I never thought I’d go!  Lot’s of fun though.  It’s a shame that some of the stuff I bought last year was wasted money since those items are now too big and don’t fit.  That in itself is a good thing I guess, but the wasted money isn’t.  You know, I never thought I’d actually do this.  The real question is, will I have the courage to wear it out where people will see it?  Maybe sometime in July?  I dunno!!!!  The next one is going to be more difficult though.  I kinda like working on projects like this, but I just don’t know if my next one is do-able (is that real word?).  We shall see I guess!

I finally got the chance to listen to a couple of Peter Davison Doctor Who audio books this week.  One voice on the first cd nagged at me until I looked it up to make sure I wasn’t imagining it.  I was right, it was David Walliams.  I was distracted I had to listen to the first cd a couple of times.  Very enjoyable stories.

Good stuff!
