Went to a Web Soup taping last night. Great fun! Not as good as last time, but still fun. I think I'm going to go next Tuesday as well. I get home a little late, but it's not too bad, apart from having to park really far away from my apartment and having to walk up a hill in the dark to get home. They tape early and there are very few pick-ups, so we're out of there in about an hour or so. Too bad the timing with available parking in my neighborhood is so off. The show goes just like it does when it's broadcast, so it's just like watching it at home, if you're not like me and have have regular cable instead of DirectTv. I miss G4! What a great cast and crew that show has, it all looks so effortless. I bet they're in rehearsal forever to get it to flow like that.
For those keeping up - I had fantastic luck last Saturday shopping with Deanne for the most difficult portion of my costume. It fits like a glove, is lightweight and was only $30! I would have never found this store on my own, as it wasn't in the best area of, I think, Montebello. I'm not sure though. Might have been East LA. It was a hole in the wall that you'd miss if you blinked while driving by. Everything inside that they had displayed was covered in dust / dirt and kinda faded since they keep the door open and I doubt they ever change their displays. I couldn't believe it when I put it on. It felt right! the first one felt really wrong and uncomfortable. Who knew the second would be so awesome? The second! Amazing! I'm so happy with my purchase! Only a couple of things left to get now. I'd be done already if some of the things I already bought last year still fit. Unfortunately, I have to go get smaller sizes for the remaining things. I hope I have the guts to wear this in July and that I don't just wait for Halloween. We'll see!
The folks are in town this weekend, so we are going to have an early birthday dinner this Saturday night. Too bad they aren't going to be here for the actual day. It will be nice to see them though, we haven't seen each other since Christmas.
I finally got all caught up on Doctor Who this past Saturday night. Just in time for BBC America to NOT show new episodes over the holiday weekend! I watched St. Trinian's as well. Very funny! Kinda stupid, but funny. Rupert Everett is great in drag. Now I need to watch the sequel. David Tennant is in it, which is good, since a lot of the cast has been on Doctor Who at some point.
I signed up to take an online class that starts in a couple of weeks and goes through to early August. I just hope I have the discipline to keep up with the coursework. I was a terrible student in college. If I had to study for something, I was hopeless. I have to do well in this class! No other option is available! Unfortunately, it's such an obscure subject that if I have trouble, I don't know anyone I could ask. Except for a friend of mine who lives in Atlanta. I may be able to ask them, but it might be weird since we lost touch when they moved to Atlanta. Nah, I won't ask them.
Well, that's about it for now. I'll try to blog more later.

Awe man, I found out this week that I won’t be able to take my birthday off work this year. My boss is out of the office for a couple of days around then, as well as some of my staff. Hopefully it will be a quiet day and I’ll be able to leave early (with proper paperwork filed of course). I asked if that would be okay and my boss said yes, as long as we’re not too short-handed or too busy. Hopefully I’ll be able to bail around 1pm, if I’m lucky. I haven’t made any plans or anything, but it would be nice to get home a little early and take it easy. Or go to Costco and renew the membership I got last year and have never used. I thought for sure that I would use that membership at least once over this past year. I was wrong.
I took my very first-ever sick day on a Monday this week. It was so weird! I live near a school, so I could hear the school bell ring and then hear the kids at recess. Man, kids are loud when they play! Didn’t stop me from sleeping though. One thing being sick earlier this year changed, I’ve become someone who sleeps! A LOT ! What a nice change. I slept until 8:30am on Monday and didn’t really get out of bed until 11am. Unheard of!
I think Gotham was confused as to why I was home. I probably messed-up his plans for daytime debauchery around the apartment. I bet he was going to invite some ladies over for mid-day cocktails and fooling around….. and dumb me went and ruined it. So instead he just laid around, slept and stayed closed to me all day. Poor thing. Ha!
My costume project is coming along really well. Only a couple of items left to get. I can’t believe it’s been over a year in the making. Sam, Deanne and Manny have been great help with this as sounding boards and resources to finding off the wall shops and wholesalers. I’ve been to places in East Downtown LA that I never thought I’d go! Lot ’s of fun though. It’s a shame that some of the stuff I bought last year was wasted money since those items are now too big and don’t fit. That in itself is a good thing I guess, but the wasted money isn’t. You know, I never thought I’d actually do this. The real question is, will I have the courage to wear it out where people will see it? Maybe sometime in July? I dunno!!!! The next one is going to be more difficult though. I kinda like working on projects like this, but I just don’t know if my next one is do-able (is that real word?). We shall see I guess!
I finally got the chance to listen to a couple of Peter Davison Doctor Who audio books this week. One voice on the first cd nagged at me until I looked it up to make sure I wasn’t imagining it. I was right, it was David Walliams. I was distracted I had to listen to the first cd a couple of times. Very enjoyable stories.
Good stuff!

If you're looking for the results of my Flash project where I read the entire run for 1987 through to it's end and jotted down my thoughts on the stories and writers, please see a couple of post down.
It's been pretty quiet lately. I had a great weekend of not doing much. Decadence! Came into work for a bit on Sunday (got loads done!), but other than that, I was able to lay around the apartment and not do anything. I should have been cleaning, but I didn't. I recorded Doctor Who, but my friend wasn't able to make it over at the last minute, so I haven't watched it yet. I'll try to do that either this week or on Saturday before the next one airs.
I'm trying out new contact lenses I got yesterday. Not sure if I like them or not. Each lens is really thin and fold over a lot, sticking to itself when I'm trying to put each one in. It's very humbling to be standing in the bathroom at 4am, half asleep, bent over a sink squinting at a mirror and failing to be able to get a stupid little contact lens in your eye and grumbling "goddamnit" the entire time. And all that's before getting dressed and putting make-up on! Good way to start the day, right? Hopefully the other test set will be easier, I guess I'll see in a week. :-)
This past Friday, I actually took a lunch break and went to a seedy area of downtown with Sam and got a few pieces for that project I've been working on. I'm very happy with my purchases! Things are coming together nicely. Only 14 months in the making. LOL. Okay, I haven't been working on it for 14 months, but I started it last March, so that counts, right? Once I'm done with it, I'll start the next one. I still have my doubts that I'll be able to do that one.
For those who have asked, (thanks!) I'm feeling loads better and the doctor's appointments are finally tapering off, thank goodness. I think, at the height of everything, I had 9 appointments a week..... at $20-$30 a pop in co-payments! I have to get some blood work done early this Saturday morning in Arcadia, but that should be quick and I think everything will finally come back good! Fingers-crossed! Watch, everything will be great, but they'll tell me my cholesterol is too high or something out of left field like that. Now if I could gain back a little bit of the weight I lost. Not all of it though! It's weird, I still haven't regained my appetite. I thought that, at the very least, would be back to normal by now. Who thought I would ever say that? Do you now how long it's been since I've craved candy? MONTHS!!! ME, not craving candy??!!?? I hate that! I bought a bag of mini Reese's Cups in December and they're still sitting there, probably bad by now. Too bad I opened the bag. I guess I should toss them out.
How great is this? I've been in a stupid good mood for weeks now. For absolutely no reason!!! Only got pissed off at a couple of people and not for very long either. Apart from feeling better, I can't think of why my mood has been so good, but I'm not going to question it!
Have a great day everyone!
