Ricky Gervais was awesome this past Saturday. I laughed so much, my stomach hurt. I have to say, this show was better than the last one we went to (same place, I think 10 years ago... my memory kinda sucks now).  Even ill, he put on an amazing show!

I'm loving this weather! The forecast (if it's to be believed) says we're going to be in 60's for at least 9 days. Yaaaaaaaas!

Work was long today, so I'm happy to be home relaxing.  The day was so busy, it flew by!

Unless my parents decide to move this weekend, I'll be at the Thrilling Adventure Hour at Largo Saturday night. It's a benefit for the Anti-Defamation League, so it's for a great cause.  I'll be sparing a thought for Len Wein during the show, aside from that, I'm hoping it will be a good night with lots of laughs! I hope to see some of you guys there.

So, what do you do when you see one of your closest friends making HUGE life mistakes? They aren’t at a space to hear it, so you can’t say anything, yet you know it’s going to end REALLY badly.  Up to this point, I’ve dropped a few really strong hints, but I can already tell that I’ve probably pissed them off a little (although, not enough to get them to think about what they’re doing).

We’re still very goods friends, but I feel like it might be time to pull back a little. I dunno. <sigh>.

I just found out my friend Magnus in Atlanta passed away in late June. I’m heartbroken. I’m grateful I got to visit with him when I was back there in May for the Midnight Oil show.  I’d texted once him in July and once again in August and assumed he was just too busy being fabulous to text me back. He was only 50.

Magnus was a bright, shiny spot in my life.  We would lose touch and then easily reconnect. I’m a much better person for having had him as my friend.  Magnus, you remain the friendliest, nattiest, kindest, and most awesome friend ever. I will miss your generosity, your tittering laugh, our gossip sessions about the Real Housewives, our political discussions and your knack for making me laugh all the time. Your smile was infectious.

Again, I’m heartbroken.

Nick Offerman was amazing! If you get a chance to see him, I recommend you take in the show.

I just found out that I'm going to the Ricky Gervais show... I guess I forgot. I usually see him when he performs in-town, so I'm not sure how I forgot.  Looking forward to it though!

I hate to say it, but the Bill Maher show last night was a little bit of a let down. The content was good, but he went on 20 minutes late (8:20pm) and went off stage at 9:30pm. Seriously? A 70 minute show? My tickets weren't cheap, plus the bottle of water I bought was $4.50.  A lot of money went in to a night where driving there, finding parking and walking to the venue took longer than the show itself.

Like I said, the show was good, just very short. I feel like I could have stayed home and watched a bunch of Real Time monologues instead.

According to the email I got, the Nick Offerman show tonight is supposed to be at least 90 minutes. I'm confident it's going to be an amazing show. 😀

Man, I got flu shot this past Saturday and it SUCKED!!!  Getting the shot itself was okay, but I've been achy all week. The pharmacist said this might happen, darn it. I'm positive it's going to be over soon though, it has to!!!  I'm seeing Bill Maher and Nick Offerman shows this weekend, yay!   No achiness allowed!

The only other thing I have on the calendar is the special Thrilling Adventure Hour coming up, which is good!  I've finally started to get my apartment feeling like a home, but I'm not done.  Don't judge me! I need to do this stuff in my own time...It's not where I want it to be yet, but it's getting there.  I bought a ton of Command Strips and Command Hooks to hang my stuff on the walls and they're awesome! I used nails for the really heavy stuff, but I've been able to use the Command stuff on most pieces. I've still got things to hang, but I'm not sure about placement yet.

My quest for rugs and lamps continues, so my upcoming free weekends will hopefully be put to good use!

One more day of getting-up early, then it's the weekend!!!!

Today was a horrific day.  I woke to news of last nights mass shooting in Las Vegas and then heard that Tom Petty was basically brain dead and off life support.

Now, those are two totally different types of tragedies. One could have been avoided if we had reasonable and enforceable gun laws in this country and one is a loss that (reasonably) could not have been foreseen. I'm heartbroken and crushed by both.

I only hope that THIS TIME, our ELECTED officials will step up to the plate and do something to make future horrors similar to Las Vegas all but impossible. Just looking to recent events- Nothing was done after Sandy Hook, nothing was done after San Bernardino, nothing was done after the Pulse Nightclub shooting.... this has to stop.  Though, I have a feeling that in this topsy-turvy alternate universe, that the right-wing masses will rise-up and block any good that could come of this. We wouldn't want to take away anyone's assault rifles, now would we? They might be needed for hunting and completely obliterating a deer or something, making it completely inedible, but apparently still necessary. I will never understand........

Rest well Tom Petty.  As of now, you are still holding on.  If you can recover, I look forward to many more new songs and stories.  If you can't, I'll look forward to seeing you on the other side (if there is one).  You'll be missed.
