Jeez, I'm sick again. Luckily, I had a doctor's appointment this week that I scheduled 2 months ago. He prescribed a Z-pack, which I haven't had for a while, so I'm hoping it will get rid of this "upper respiratory infection" in short order.
To escape the heat, I went to the movies yesterday and saw "Wonder Woman"with my friend Sam. It was enjoyable and all the actors were great, but I would have liked to have gone with CBLMW though. I enjoyed the movie, but there is so much I would have liked to discuss with him. Stuff my "normal" friends who don't know much about comics aren't aware of. He would have been a great date to see it with.
I called my dad earlier since it is Father's Day. We had a good, if short, conversation. I can tell he's sad that their house sale falling out of escrow is really bothering him. They were supposed to buy another home, but when their buyer fell through, it ended the transaction. They could have still purchased the new home, but it wouldn't have been a smart thing to do. I feel bad for them.
My folks and I didn't get together this year for my birthday, so I feel like I haven't had it yet. Is that weird? I'm hoping I will see them soon.
I'm reading a book called "Murder Machine" and I highly recommend it if you are interested in mafia stories. It's disturbing, but very interesting. I should probably put on a comedy before I go to sleep tonight...

Well, I just had another birthday. I think I'm really starting to hate birthdays. I had fun though. Went out with some friends. Being a year older sucks ass though.
I'm still really liking my new apartment. I thought it was going to feel like it's really far from things, but it's not. My commute or work is the same, if not shorter. Even getting back to my old Miracle Mile neighborhood doesn't take long (depending on the day/time). I had a pedicure appointment down the block from my old apartment a few weeks ago (on a Saturday morning) and it only took 20 minutes to get there. I even got to the West Side pretty quickly! Probably because it's freeway travel and not jacked-up surface streets. I'm going to a pub in Santa Monica tomorrow, I'll have to see how long it takes. Although, it will be my friend Sam driving....she drives kinda fast...so that may not be the best gauge of how long it takes, lol.
I'm slowly, but surely, getting the place to look how I want it to look. I still need to get a bunch of area rugs and stuff, not to mention the need to hang up my pictures, but I'm not rushing it. My last apartment had knick knacks all over the place and I'm trying to avoid that here. This means that a lot of things are staying in the boxes I packed them up in (I'm not to the point where I can just get rid of them yet). This place is so light and bright, I want to keep it that way. I can thank the medication my neurologist put me on for that. Because of the daily migraine stuff I'm on, for the first time in 22 years, I don't have blackout curtains on my windows!!! In the living room I have really pretty white sheers with an almost embroidered detail hanging up with clean-looking taupe curtains. I have daylight in my apartment!!! You guys have no idea how big a deal that is for me!
Speaking of the migraines, I haven't had a full-blown migraine in MONTHS. It makes me want to cry tears of joy, typing that. Sure, I've had a lot of headaches, but I can deal with those rather easily. My friends have really noticed a difference and that makes me happy.
This is only my second weekend since I've moved in, that I really don't have anything on the agenda or have to be anywhere (apart from the pub tomorrow). I'm looking forward to an easy, breezy time. If I get a call to go out and feel like going out, I'll go out. If not, I'll hang out here and read, go through cupboards or closets, clean a little, whatever. Heck, I may just laze around and catch-up on Bosch and not get anything else done. 😀
On a sad note- Adam West passed away. I'm so sad. I know it seems dumb, but I am.
