Ugh, I'm home from work sick and I'm bored to bits.

I started feeling crummy yesterday morning, so I went home around 1pm, hoping that taking my doctors prescription for amoxicillin would knock this thing out quickly. I'm still hoping that. I went to work this morning as usual, but only made it until about 9:30am. I'm not coughing or anything (yet), which is good.

So now I'm home in bed, watching videos and listening to my cat chase a foil ball around the apartment.

It's WEIRD being home during the day.

I had a really good day today. It started out shaky when Gotham decided to use his litter box (which is in a storage closet in my bedroom) at 5:45am (on a Saturday morning! Jerk cat.) waking me up with the smell of cat crap. Then, I decided to actually toast the kick-ass Trader Joe's pop tarts (instead of eating them cold) and I burned my index finger on the molten sugar part of the topping  (no, I didn't read the heating instructions first that said to wait 1-2 minutes before handling thankyouverymuch). Now I have a burned index finger on my dominate hand. I thought "Jeez, I hope the day isn't going to be like this, I'm meeting-up with Sam!".

So I left to go up and meet Sam, but, as usual, I got up there early. That gave me extra time to see if the Trader Joe's in her area has my new favorite cookies (mine has been out of them for a week, the selfish bastards). They did!! Score!!! I bought 5 boxes (I gave 1 to Sam) and you can keep your judgement to yourself. I still had time to browse Sally Beauty Supply and Marshalls. Even found a couple of cool things.

The main plan with Sam was to go to Creative Woman (The Wizard of Bras!!!!), get properly measured and hopefully get bras that fit well. Because, come on, really, WHO DOESN'T want to go to a shop, get undressed to the waist and have a female stranger look at, measure and move their chest around? Am I right ladies?  What a joy that is!!!

So I get to Sam's shop, where we decided to meet, and we head over to CW. Dude! The line and waiting list to get measured and fitted is an hour long!!! The store is small and we were kinda hungry, so we went over to Chili's and got lunch. By the time we got back to CW, we were able to be on the top of the list when we got there. Yasssssssss!

Once we went to the back, where they do the measuring and the fittings, we each started a comical journey, where our holy grail is a well-fitting bra. I had a really good sales person and tried on, probably, 10 bras after she did the measurement/ size thing and ended-up with three I liked. Sam, on the other hand, had an older sales lady that didn't seem to understand when Sam told her she didn't want a heavy duty bra that makes her chest look like it has two conical missiles sitting on it. I kept hearing her laughing from down the way as I was in my fitting room asking questions and getting advice. She came to my room, with a pretty bra in-hand, but a non-plussed look on her face. I'd tried on the bra she had in her hand, but it didn't work for me....and I'm guessing it won't work for her and she will probably return it, which is too bad, because it was really pretty.

After we were done, we just wanted to hang out. The thought of returning to the grind of the day seemed like a bummer, so we found a coffe/tea place with outdoor seating and just sat outside and talked for a long time.

What a great way to spend a day. Talking with a good friend on a deep level.  Being there for them when they need you to listen.  Not just surface chit-chat, but really important stuff. The weather was perfect and the atmosphere was calming. We stayed at our table on the little patio until the sun went down, the iced tea glasses were drained and the cinnamon roll we shared was reduced to crumbs.

It was a shame to have to go home, but talking further at the shop or at her house wouldn't be the same. There are too many distractions and people who need a piece of Sam at those places. I hope we can do it again soon, she has so much on her plate.  I only wish today could have gone on longer.

Indeed, it was a good day.

So far 2017 has been pretty good!  Okay, we're only a little over 3 weeks into it, so I probably shouldn't make any assumptions yet!

This past Friday night, I went and saw an ICON perform.  I was lucky enough to have been able to purchase very good seats for my friend and I to attend "A Conversation with Mel Brooks" with a showing of "Blazing Saddles". I got the tickets as a birthday gift for a friend of mine. I was a little nervous as I'd purchased them way back in October and, well, Mel is 90 years-old, so scheduling stuff that far ahead..... I mean, the tickets were VERY expensive....

The show was amazing. Mel does NOT seem like he's 90 years-old!! For an hour after the movie screening he ran around the stage, told stories, jokes and made the world's best cat sounds. I'm so glad to have been able to go.  The guy still goes over to Carl Reiner's house and hangs out with him!  How cool is that?

On Sunday I went (with the same friend) to a live performance of "Dr. Katz, Professional Therapist". Very good show as well! The patients that night were: Bob Saget (not as filthy as I expected him to be), Andy Kindler (who absolutely fucking killed it), Some Canadian guy who was very funny, but I can't remember his name, David Wain (also funny) and Maria Bamford (funny, filthy and silly). Laura Silverman was on stage as "Laura" for the entire show as well. Awesomely funny show.

So I had two fantastic comedy shows to brighten-up the otherwise dreary, rainy weekend (we had flash flood alerts for most of the weekend!). I walked over to get a pedicure on Sunday morning, got poured on and had my umbrella blown inside out!  (My toes look amazing though, so it was worth it!). I'm glad I went to the shows though, I'd been thinking about staying home and out of the rain, but I'm happy I forced myself to go out to a shitty part of downtown Los Angeles, face the elements and see some good comedy. I need to do that more often!  Well, maybe not the going to a shitty part of downtown Los Angeles bit.

After such a great weekend, I'm now kinda bummed.  I had a hair appointment scheduled for today, but it's been rescheduled. I was really looking forward to having someone else wash and dry my hair.... and to have my roots taken care of, but mainly having someone else wash and dry my hair for me. Ah well. I can wait a couple of days.

What else is going on? Not much, which is good!  Bring on the rest of the week! I hope this "good" trend continues!! 😀
